Good Taste

At least once a week, my family orders something for lunch or dinner from a local restaurant. Not only does this help a local business, but it helps me because I don’t have to cook!

This week we ordered from Good Taste, they are technically out of state but they will deliver to Trenton and Ewing if you use the Grubhub app. They’re located over the Calhoun Street Bridge next door to Jahan Kabob at 1 East Trenton Ave, Morrisville, PA.

This was not our first time ordering from here, we’d been picking up their food for years pre-pandemic, ever since we’ve generally stuck to whatever is on the Grubhub or Doordash app. So you can imagine our excitement when we saw that they were a recent addition to the online ordering world. For this order, we went with the Chicken with Garlic Sauce Combo, General Tso’s Chicken Combo, Fried Pork Dumplings and the Crab Rangoon.

Chicken with Garlic Sauce $10.75

After ordering this dish from other Chinese places the past few months, we can honestly say that this is the best version, especially in terms of the quality of the chicken they use. In my husband’s words, the combo is amazing, with the perfect blend of sweet and spicy paired with a great vegetable medley.

General Tso’s Chicken Combo $11.05

Another wonderful version of the classic, I would say this is the best I have had from a take-out restaurant. Not too spicy, a great texture, and the chicken quality, I can’t say it enough, is perfect. They also offer a white meat version for only $14.50.

Pork Dumplings Fried $8.15

These dumplings are an amazing traditional fried dumpling, complete with a slightly spicy and garlicky dipping sauce that is probably my favorite part about eating them. They also offer them steamed.

Crab Rangoon Pint $4.55

This is one of my favorite appetizers, traditionally a cream cheese and crab (usually imitation) stuffed fried wonton. I love that they make theirs into triangles, in my opinion it makes it so much easier to eat and dip. Their filling is pretty creamy and flavorful, however, there might not be enough in the wonton for some people.

We, without a doubt recommend Good Taste, they will continue get our business for years to come. We also suggest, House Special Lo Mein, Vegetable Spring Roll , Chicken and Broccoli Combo, Sesame Chicken Combo, and Pork Fried Rice.

Hope this helped!

King’s Pizzarama

At least once a week, my family orders something for lunch or dinner from a local restaurant. Not only does this help a local business, but it helps me because I don’t have to cook!

This week, we ordered from King’s Pizzarama, located next to Wine Mart on 200 Ewingville Rd in Ewing.

This was our first time ordering from this restaurant. I was interested in placing this order after seeing a number of people in a Ewing Facebook Group stating that this place has the best pizza around. Naturally, I had to see what all the fuss was about. We received a pepperoni pizza, a plain pizza, buffalo wings and a side order of spaghetti.

As you may already know, we use Grubhub to place our orders. After waiting for over an hour for our food, I decided to call the restaurant to check the status. They advised me that using Grubhub causes a delay of almost twenty minutes and it’s best to call orders in as those will be done right away. This is the first time I’ve heard something like this from a restaurant, but if that’s the case here I would advise just calling your order in.

Plain Pizza $13.49 with Pepperoni topping $3.60

This was a pretty good pizza, the sauce was flavorful and the cheese tasted different, maybe muenster? The only thing we had some issue with was the dough. For some of my family it was a bit too chewy, others thought it was a little too thick. Even so, everyone ate it and there was barely any left.

Plain Pizza $13.49 (Asked for half pepperoni $2.95)

To tell the truth, this isn’t actually what we’d ordered. We asked for a half pepperoni, well done. Instead we got a plain pizza that seemed even doughier than the pepperoni pizza. Still, the sauce and cheese saved it, and we ate the whole pie. I think this would have been much better well done, we will be sure to order by phone next time.

Buffalo Wings (10) $9.50

The sauce of these wings had a strong tabasco sauce flavor, and the wings were meaty with very little fat. These were not to my taste but my family loved them.

Spaghetti Side Order $6.49

This was a good amount of spaghetti, considering it was a side order. The sauce was a little thicker than I would have liked as it didn’t coat the spaghetti enough. When placed on a plate, the pasta seemed dry. That said, my two year old still loved it.

For our first time ordering from Kings Pizzarama, we were mostly pleased. We would definitely be ordering again, but we will be calling instead of using the app and seeing if that makes a difference. Since we have not ordered from here before I don’t have any recommendations, however their most popular items suggested by Grubhub are the standards like, Mozzarella sticks, French Fries, Plain Pizza, Chicken Fingers and Buffalo Wings.

Hope this helped!

Ray’s Sub Shop

At least once a week, my family orders something for lunch or dinner from a local restaurant. Not only does this help a local business, but it helps me because I don’t have to cook!

This week, we ordered from Ray’s Sub Shop located down the street from TCNJ at 1540 Pennington Rd in Ewing.

Ray’s is another one of the places we like to frequent. It’s a great local place to get a sandwich and their huge “Belly Busters” especially, never disappoint. This time we ordered the Italian Belly Buster, Tuna Salad Sub, and the Pepperoni & Provolone Cheese Sub.

Italian Belly Buster (Half) $7.99

The Belly Buster sandwiches are a great choice if you are very hungry. They’re served on a wide sesame seed roll and come loaded with meat. Inside you’ll find provolone cheese, capicola, ham, and salami, and is traditionally dressed with lettuce, tomato, onions, hot peppers, oil, vinegar and mayo. Even the half is enough for two meals, only order the full if you have a few others to share it with.

Tuna Salad Sub (Half) $6.99

Ray’s tuna salad is simple; just the way I like it. I know a lot of people enjoy things like celery and cucumbers mixed in, but you won’t find that here. I like to add lettuce, oil and vinegar.

Pepperoni & Provolone Cheese Sub (Half) $6.50

This is my child’s favorite. The pepperoni is piled high with a nice balance of cheese. She likes it completely plain, which works out for us since it can be stored longer without getting soggy.

Ray’s Sub Shop is a great choice for a quick lunch, just keep in mind they do have shorter hours on Sunday. We haven’t explored too much of the menu compared to some of the other places we frequent, but I can say all the traditional deli favorites are a safe bet here. By the way, if you’re having some people over or need to bring some food to an event, the sandwich platters are always a favorite at our gatherings.

Hope this helped!

Mamma Flora’s Trattoria

At least once a week, my family orders something for lunch or dinner from a local restaurant. Not only does this help a local business, but it helps me because I don’t have to cook!

This week, we ordered from Mamma Flora’s Trattoria located in the shopping center next to the Shoprite at 1750 N Olden Ave in Ewing.

This is not the first time that we have ordered from here, but it’s one of those places that has so many good things on the menu that can easily add up, so we typically only order every once in a while. This time we ordered for lunch to take advantage of the reduced prices. We got the Salmon Champagne (one of this week’s specials), Penne with Vodka Sauce and Grilled Chicken, a Kid’s Spaghetti and Meatballs, and a slice of Pumpkin Cheesecake.

Salmon Champagne $14.00

The salmon filet was about 6-8 ounces and had a very creamy champagne Dijon sauce with mushrooms and green beans. It was perfectly cooked and the sauce was very decadent, I would absolutely order this the next time it’s available. This was enough for two meals.

Penne Vodka with Grilled Chicken $17

This meal is actually listed on their menu as Lunch Pasta with Vodka Sauce, you have to select the type of pasta you want and the meat you want to add in. The meat ranges from $5-$9 extra. This is so flavorful and easily one of my family’s favorite local pasta dishes. This is another dish that will easily last you for two meals.

Kid’s Spaghetti and Meatballs $7.00

This kid’s meal is huge! It’s a basic pasta dish with a very chunky sauce that I feel should be smoother for a child’s meal but my daughter didn’t seem to mind.

Pumpkin Cheesecake $6.00

This may look a little plain, and to be honest I was actually surprised there was not any whipped cream, but it was really delightful. Delicious, creamy and full of pumpkin flavor, a perfect fall dessert.

We absolutely love Mamma Flora’s, and have never experienced any issues with ordering or the quality of their food. A couple of our favorites that we would recommend would be the Hot Wings (we used to bring a tray of their honey BBQ to family events), Fried Mozzarella (not mozzarella sticks, these are squares and amazing), Chicken Marsala, any of their burgers, Salmon Amalfi (Dinner Special), Apple Streusel Cheesecake, and Chocolate Fudge Cake. Hope this helped!

Sakana Asian Cuisine

At least once a week, my family orders something for lunch or dinner from a local restaurant. Not only does this help a local business, but it helps me because I don’t have to cook!

This week, we ordered from Sakana Asian Cuisine, located down the street from the AMC theater at 3100 Quakerbridge Rd Ste 10 in Trenton/Hamilton Township.

This is the first time we ordered delivery from this restaurant, usually we would go and take advantage of the all you can eat menu for a flat fee. Because we’ve never ordered from the standard menu we were a little nervous about the outcome and decided on getting lunch just in case. However, we were pleasantly surprised. We ordered a General Tso’s Bento Box, Thai Red Curry Lunch Special, Crab Rangoon and the Beef Gyoza.

The delivery was within the time they gave, about 45 minutes from the time I placed the order. It seems like they use independent Grubhub drivers, which we’ve had problems with in the past, but this time it was great and they actually left my food by my door and waited for us to come outside to get it before leaving.

General Tso’s Bento Box $12.00

This came with a green salad and a wonton soup. Inside the box is shumai (shrimp dumpling), California roll (imitation crab, cucumber and avocado) and of course the General Tso’s chicken with rice (you can choose between white or brown). I have always loved this chicken when going there so I figured this was a safe bet. I was right, it was exactly how I remembered: slightly sweet and with a little spice. You get a lot for your money, and I was only able to finish half the chicken.

Thai Red Curry Sauce Lunch Special with Chicken $9

This came with white rice and wonton soup. It has mixed vegetables and chicken in a thin red curry sauce. The sauce is creamy with coconut flavors and not at all spicy. My husband ordered this one, he thought it was excellent and also was only able to eat half of it.

Crab Rangoon $5.50

These came with a delightfully sweet chili sauce and were just as good as I remember them being. They have the creamiest filling and better than almost any crab rangoon I have had before. My husband and I wished we had ordered two.

Beef Gyoza $6.00

These beef dumplings were excellent, and pretty self explanatory. Great texture and the sauce was very flavorful.

So all in all, this was a great experience with Sakana Asian Cuisine. We would surely order from here again and have it delivered. Even though most of our experience is eating there, if you’re looking for more recommendations we’re also fans of the Avocado Salad, Hibachi Dinners, Chicken Teriyaki, Salmon Teriyaki, and Mongolian beef(Dinner only). Hope this helped!

Trent City Pizza

At least once a week, my family orders something for lunch or dinner from a local restaurant. Not only does this help a local business, but it helps me because I don’t have to cook! This week, we ordered from a family favorite, Trent City Pizza. They’re located just a block away from Arm & Hammer Park at 687 Lamberton Street in Trenton.

Let me start by saying that they have such an extensive menu, it can be a bit overwhelming. We always get at least one Spanish dish, because those seem to be their specialty, and then we try a few new things. This time we decided on Angel’s Special Rice (my husband’s favorite), steak tacos, fish and chips, and a steak and plantains meal.

The delivery was very quick, as usual. They’re less than 10 minutes away from us, so we typically get our food well before the hour window and the drivers are always friendly. So let’s check out what we got:

Angel’s Special Rice

This is fried rice with beef, shrimp, fish, peppers, onions and cilantro with a side of hot sauce. This is how it comes every time, it looks exactly like the picture in the menu. It is one of the more expensive things on the menu at about $15, but it’s large enough to serve two.

3 Taco Supreme with Steak

This has onions and cilantro with lemons, crema, salsa, tomatoes, and lettuce. This is the first time I have ordered these, I usually get the ground beef tacos. I think these are slightly better because they are not as dry as the ground beef, but they do have more of a fatty texture. These were about $7.00.

Spanish Steak and Onions

This comes with white rice and sweet plantains. This was the first time we ordered this, the steak was the same as used in my tacos and thinner than we expected, but it was nicely seasoned. The rice was a bit too plain for me, I think this would have been better with some fried rice. The plantains were good and not too sweet. This is about $8.00.

Fish N Chips Platter

This came with two fried fish pieces, a lot of fries, and tartar sauce. It had a strong flavor, we spent a bit debating what type of fish it was but we still thought it was good and it was great for the kids! This was about $9.00.

We’ve never had a bad meal at Trent City Pizza, but if you’re looking for more recommendations we’re fans of the chicken quesadilla, any of the burgers, the ground beef burrito, the fish filet with yellow rice, and the chicken stew platter. Hope this helped!
