1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning

1/2 teaspoon dried basil

1 package button mushroom, sliced

1 teaspoon butter

1/4 teaspoon dried thyme

1 teaspoon oil

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

2/3 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Freshly ground black pepper

1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Preheat the oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • On a medium-size non-stick skillet, add the sliced mushroom and cook on high heat for a couple of minutes. The water from the mushroom will start to extract and evaporate.
  • Once the water from the mushroom started to evaporate and the mushroom turns slightly brown, add the butter and dried thyme to the mushroom. Stir frequently and cook for an additional minute or two. Take them off the skillet and set aside.
  • On the same skillet, add the oil and spinach leaves. Sprinkle garlic powder and pinch of salt to the spinach and cook until all the spinach leaves are wilted about 3-5 minutes.
  • When the spinach is wilted, take it off from the heat and set aside.
  • In a small bowl, mix together 1 cup of ricotta cheese, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, 1/2 teaspoon of Italian seasoning, and 1/2 teaspoon of dried basil.
  • Divide the pizza dough in half.
  • Flour the working surface and start stretching the dough flat. Do the same for the other dough.
  • Spread the ricotta mixture to the stretched pizza dough evenly and thinly.
  • Add the cooked mushroom and spinach.
  • Add 1/3 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese on top.
  • Sprinkle red pepper flakes if you like spicy pizza. If not, skip this step.
  • Sprinkle some freshly ground black pepper on top.
  • Place the pizza in the oven and cook for 11-12 minutes.
  • Take them out of the oven and enjoy right away.

Good Taste

At least once a week, my family orders something for lunch or dinner from a local restaurant. Not only does this help a local business, but it helps me because I don’t have to cook!

This week we ordered from Good Taste, they are technically out of state but they will deliver to Trenton and Ewing if you use the Grubhub app. They’re located over the Calhoun Street Bridge next door to Jahan Kabob at 1 East Trenton Ave, Morrisville, PA.

This was not our first time ordering from here, we’d been picking up their food for years pre-pandemic, ever since we’ve generally stuck to whatever is on the Grubhub or Doordash app. So you can imagine our excitement when we saw that they were a recent addition to the online ordering world. For this order, we went with the Chicken with Garlic Sauce Combo, General Tso’s Chicken Combo, Fried Pork Dumplings and the Crab Rangoon.

Chicken with Garlic Sauce $10.75

After ordering this dish from other Chinese places the past few months, we can honestly say that this is the best version, especially in terms of the quality of the chicken they use. In my husband’s words, the combo is amazing, with the perfect blend of sweet and spicy paired with a great vegetable medley.

General Tso’s Chicken Combo $11.05

Another wonderful version of the classic, I would say this is the best I have had from a take-out restaurant. Not too spicy, a great texture, and the chicken quality, I can’t say it enough, is perfect. They also offer a white meat version for only $14.50.

Pork Dumplings Fried $8.15

These dumplings are an amazing traditional fried dumpling, complete with a slightly spicy and garlicky dipping sauce that is probably my favorite part about eating them. They also offer them steamed.

Crab Rangoon Pint $4.55

This is one of my favorite appetizers, traditionally a cream cheese and crab (usually imitation) stuffed fried wonton. I love that they make theirs into triangles, in my opinion it makes it so much easier to eat and dip. Their filling is pretty creamy and flavorful, however, there might not be enough in the wonton for some people.

We, without a doubt recommend Good Taste, they will continue get our business for years to come. We also suggest, House Special Lo Mein, Vegetable Spring Roll , Chicken and Broccoli Combo, Sesame Chicken Combo, and Pork Fried Rice.

Hope this helped!

INGREDIENTS
FOR THE MARINADED CHICKEN
2 boneless skinless chicken breasts or you can use 4 – 5 thighs
1 lemon juiced
2 garlic cloves , minced
1 tsp oregano
2 tbsp olive oil
1/2 tsp salt
FOR THE TZATZIKI
1/2 a seedless english cucumber , peeled
1 tsp sea salt or more to taste
2 cups plain greek yogurt
3 cloves garlic , peeled and mashed into a paste
⅓ cup olive oil
1 tbsp red or white wine vinegar
1 tbsp fresh dill minced
FOR THE FLATBREAD
1 cup warm water (about 110 degrees)
1 tsp active dry yeast (from one 1/4-ounce envelope)
3 cups all-purpose flour , plus more for surface and hands
3 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil , plus more for bowl
2 tsp coarse salt
oil to brush on the dough before cooking
FOR THE ROASTED GARLIC
2 heads garlic
1 tsp sea salt
1 tbsp olive oil
FOR THE OTHER TOPPINGS
1 tbsp olive oil
1 large onion sliced
300 g baby spinach a small rectangle container
1 cup feta
salt and pepper to taste
FOR EACH FLATBREAD
1 flatbread
1/2 cup tzaziki
150 g baby spinach sauteed
1/2 onions sauteed
1 chicken breast cut up, marinated and cooked
1/2 cup feta
1 head roasted garlic
2 tbsp olive oil to drizzle after cooking

INSTRUCTIONS

  • MAKE THE TZATZIKI
  • Grate the cucumber using a box grater or food processor and toss with ½ tsp of the salt. Place the cucumber in a fine mesh sieve set over a bowl and drain for 10 mins.
  • Next, take a handful of the cucumber and squeeze as much water from the cucumber as possible and put the squeezed cucumber in a bowl. Do the same for the rest of the cucumber.
  • Add the rest of the ingredients along with the remaining salt and mix it well. Let the tzatziki sit in the fridge for at least an hour to let the flavors come together.
  • MAKE THE MARINADE and CHICKEN
  • Add the lemon, garlic, oregano, olive oil and salt to a medium tuperware or bowl. Give it a good mix.
  • Cut any fat off the chicken breasts, cut them into pieces and place them in a bowl. Drizzle the marinade over the chicken and toss to coat. Cover and set aside until you are ready to cook the chicken. Give it at least 30 mins to marinate.
  • Heat a cast iron pan to med-high heat. When its nice and hot, add the chicken and cook for about 3 – 4 mins per side or until they are no longer pink in the middle. Take off the heat and let them cool. You may need to do the chicken in batches so you don’t crowd the pan. It will cook quicker and better if its not crowded. Set the chicken aside to rest until you are ready to make the flatbread.
  • MAKE THE FLATBREAD
  • Place the water in a medium bowl and sprinkle with the yeast. Let it stand until nice and foamy, about 5 minutes. When the yeast is bubbling, stir in the flour, oil, and coarse salt. Stir until the dough forms a ball. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead with floured hands until the dough is nice and smooth (about 5 min). If its to sticky add 1 tbsp at a time of flour or if its too stiff add 1 tbsp water at a time till soft and smooth.
  • You can also do this step in a mixer with your dough hook. Place the water in a measuring cup or bowl and sprinkle with the yeast. Let it stand until nice and foamy, about 5 minutes. Add the flour and salt to the mixer and then stir. When the yeast mixture is bubbling, add the yeast mixture and olive oil to the flour mixture. Mix on medium for 5 – 8 mins until its well combined and the dough looks nice and silky smooth. If its to sticky add 1 tbsp at a time of flour or if its too stiff add 1 tbsp water at a time till soft and smooth.
  • Transfer to a lightly oiled bowl and cover with a tea towel. Let the dough stand in a warm, dry place until it doubles in volume. This will take about 1 hour.
  • Heat a large flat cast iron griddle to medium high heat on your stove. Divide the dough into 4 equal pieces and cover with a tea towel. Roll out 1 piece to roughly 8 x 15 inches on a lightly floured surface. When the griddle is nice and hot, cook the flatbread dough for 2 – 3 mins each side. Repeat for all 4 flatbreads.
  • You can also do this in the oven. Heat your oven to 400 degrees. Place the flatbread dough on a parchment lined baking sheet. Repeat with the remaining dough. Bake until golden. This will take about 12-15 minutes. Pull them out of the oven and let them cool before topping them.
  • Store unused dough, wrapped in plastic wrap, in the fridge (for a couple days) or freezer (for a couple months). You can also store the unused cooked flatbread in the fridge or freezer for the same durations.
  • MAKE THE TOPPINGS
  • Heat your oven or better yet, a toaster oven to 400 degrees. Cut the tops off the heads of garlic and place them in the middle of a piece of tin foil. Drizzle with some oil and sprinkle with salt. Wrap them up in the foil and bake for 45 mins. Remove from the oven and let them cool. Then squeeze the garlic out of the head and set aside.
  • Heat a large skillet on medium-low heat. Add a splash of olive oil and then add the spinach. Cook until just wilted. Remove from the pan and set aside to cool.
  • Add the onions to the same pan and saute till they start to get translucent. Remove from the pan and set aside to cool.
  • MAKE THE GREEK FLATBREADS
  • Heat your oven to 350 degrees.
  • Take one of the flatbreads and spread a 1/2 cup tzatziki over the top. Next spread half the spinach over the bread followed by half the onion. Add half the cooked chicken pieces on top and sprinkle with the roasted garlic and then the feta.
  • Place on a baking tray and bake in the oven until it is nice and hot. About 10 mins. Drizzle some olive oil on top and serve with extra tzaziki on the side.
Notes

The flatbread recipe makes enough for 4 flatbreads. The toppings make enough for 2 flatbreads. The extra flatbreads can be stored in the freezer or the fridge as dough or you can cook them and store them cooked.

King’s Pizzarama

At least once a week, my family orders something for lunch or dinner from a local restaurant. Not only does this help a local business, but it helps me because I don’t have to cook!

This week, we ordered from King’s Pizzarama, located next to Wine Mart on 200 Ewingville Rd in Ewing.

This was our first time ordering from this restaurant. I was interested in placing this order after seeing a number of people in a Ewing Facebook Group stating that this place has the best pizza around. Naturally, I had to see what all the fuss was about. We received a pepperoni pizza, a plain pizza, buffalo wings and a side order of spaghetti.

As you may already know, we use Grubhub to place our orders. After waiting for over an hour for our food, I decided to call the restaurant to check the status. They advised me that using Grubhub causes a delay of almost twenty minutes and it’s best to call orders in as those will be done right away. This is the first time I’ve heard something like this from a restaurant, but if that’s the case here I would advise just calling your order in.

Plain Pizza $13.49 with Pepperoni topping $3.60

This was a pretty good pizza, the sauce was flavorful and the cheese tasted different, maybe muenster? The only thing we had some issue with was the dough. For some of my family it was a bit too chewy, others thought it was a little too thick. Even so, everyone ate it and there was barely any left.

Plain Pizza $13.49 (Asked for half pepperoni $2.95)

To tell the truth, this isn’t actually what we’d ordered. We asked for a half pepperoni, well done. Instead we got a plain pizza that seemed even doughier than the pepperoni pizza. Still, the sauce and cheese saved it, and we ate the whole pie. I think this would have been much better well done, we will be sure to order by phone next time.

Buffalo Wings (10) $9.50

The sauce of these wings had a strong tabasco sauce flavor, and the wings were meaty with very little fat. These were not to my taste but my family loved them.

Spaghetti Side Order $6.49

This was a good amount of spaghetti, considering it was a side order. The sauce was a little thicker than I would have liked as it didn’t coat the spaghetti enough. When placed on a plate, the pasta seemed dry. That said, my two year old still loved it.

For our first time ordering from Kings Pizzarama, we were mostly pleased. We would definitely be ordering again, but we will be calling instead of using the app and seeing if that makes a difference. Since we have not ordered from here before I don’t have any recommendations, however their most popular items suggested by Grubhub are the standards like, Mozzarella sticks, French Fries, Plain Pizza, Chicken Fingers and Buffalo Wings.

Hope this helped!
